Catherine Janula joined GVZH Advocates as an associate within the Corporate and M&A, Banking and Finance and Capital Markets divisions. Catherine has demonstrated experience in investment services and investment funds, financial services regulation, and commercial and corporate law across a range of international clients throughout her career.
Before joining GVZH Advocates, she was working for a London based asset manager, where she was initially responsible for developing the group’s legal documentation and compliance infrastructure. Catherine was then promoted to Senior Counsel of the organisation where she oversaw the in-house legal function and led the process for the group’s contract negotiations, legal due diligence exercises and regulatory reviews of transactional documentation.
Catherine was admitted to the bar in Malta in 2018. She read law at the University of Malta and was conferred a Bachelor of Laws with European Studies in 2014. Between 2011 and 2014, Catherine carried out her legal trainee programme with a law firm in Malta specialising in civil, criminal, commercial and corporate matters. She went on to obtain a Doctor of Laws in 2017 after submitting her thesis, which was on the rights of seafarers under international law.
Catherine speaks fluent English and has a good understanding of Maltese and Czech.
