Thea Bonett

Bio

Thea joined the firm as a legal intern in April 2023, with a keen interest in Corporate Law, Competition Law, and Media, Entertainment and Intellectual Property Law. She is currently part of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions and Financial Services department. In her role, Thea assists members of the team on a range of matters, including company acquisitions and restructurings, drafting corporate agreements and resolutions, handling share transfers and financing transactions, as well as advising on cross-border financial services licensing requirements. 

Throughout her time as an intern and trainee advocate, Thea has gained valuable hands-on experience across various practice areas within the firm, which has been instrumental in shaping her legal skills and professional development.

Education & Court Admissions

Thea graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of Malta in 2023. Her dissertation focused on ‘The interpretation and application of reservations in human rights treaties: the approach of the ICJ, the ECtHR, and the HRC‘.

As part of her undergraduate studies, she completed a semester abroad at Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, through the ERASMUS+ Exchange Programme. There, she pursued coursework in International Trade Law, International Criminal and Transitional Justice, and completed a research project titled ‘Competition Law and Its Impact on Sports. Affects and Applicability.’

Subsequently, Thea went on to obtain her Master of Advocacy degree in September 2024 and successfully sat for the Maltese Bar exam, acquiring her warrant to practice as an Advocate before the Courts of Malta.

Languages

Thea is fluent in both Maltese and English and has a basic understanding of Italian and French.
