Ruth Galea

Bio

Ruth Galea forms part of the corporate/mergers and acquisitions team at the firm. Prior to joining the firm as a consultant, Ruth was a partner of a leading law firm in Malta primarily servicing businesses within the gaming, ICT and financial services industries. Over the years she gained significant experience in advising clients on a multitude of legal matters. Her focus then shifted to company law and financial services regulation.

Ruth Galea has advised a number of international businesses on large-scale acquisitions (buy and sell side) and related financing and security transactions. She regularly advises clients on an array of company law matters including drafting complex corporate constitutional documents and shareholders’ agreements, as well as corporate restructuring transactions including cross-border mergers. Ruth has also gained significant experience in capital markets transactions with a cross-border element having assisted a number of Malta-registered businesses with IPOs and listings on trading venues located in other jurisdictions. Ruth has also assisted businesses with obtaining payment institution licenses from the Malta Financial Services Authority.

Education

Ruth obtained a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta in 2005. She subsequently pursued a Master of Law degree at the University of Cambridge in the areas of corporate finance, corporate governance, corporate insolvency and international banking and finance which she successfully completed in 2006. She was called to the Maltese Bar in 2006. Ruth is a member of the IFSP in Malta.
