We help individuals and businesses navigate this complicated area of law, ensuring personal data is protected and helping to manage the effects when it is not.
States have reacted to the increase threat through the implementation of specific ‘data protection legislation’ which, broadly speaking, prescribes the manner in which people’s personal data should be treated. Whereas many countries today have some form of data protection in place, this may vary from country to country. Within the EU, the legislation is largely harmonised through the General Data Protection Regulation, and the Maltese Data Protection Act, Chapter 586 of the Laws of Malta.
