Refund process for maternity leave coming soon

By means of the Maternity Leave Fund, employers in the private sector are entitled to a reimbursement of the salary paid to the employee during the 14 weeks of maternity leave.

For this purpose, private sector employers are required to pay a contribution the amount of which varies according to the social security category which said employee belongs to.

Employers have been paying this contribution since the fund’s lunch last year, but they had no recourse to the refund they rightfully expected.

The Malta Chamber of Commerce Enterprise and Industry has recently announced that online reimbursement application forms are nearing their publication and therefore the refund process is being launched in the coming days.
