Malta – 14th July 2010 – Malta concluded the first Double Taxation Agreement negotiations with a South American country – Uruguay. It is envisaged that the agreement will be signed between Malta and Uruguay later this year.

The DTA seeks to create attractive conditions for both Uruguayan and Maltese investors, whilst containing some provisions to prevent tax avoidance. The DTA also includes an Exchange of Information article to prevent tax evasion which is in line with internationally agreed standards.
